Chicago duo Two Depressed Kids (TDK) always wear their hearts on their sleeves. The standouts from Lupe Fiasco’s 1st & 15th label transform their heartbreak into a widescreen ballad, sharing “GOODBYE,” their new single and music video. Produced by Yuki Tasaka, who layers epic strings and chugging guitars over crashing hip-hop drums, the song finds the duo struggling to get over a breakup, as they vent their feelings through melody and rhyme. The song culminates in a ferocious pop-punk hook, in which they kiss off their former lover for good: “Goodbye, and good riddance/But I don’t do farewell/These lies I’ve been living/Will drag me straight to hell.” In the video, the duo composed of Jake and Drew watches a whirlwind relationship go through its phases, from infatuation to exasperation.

“GOODBYE” is TDK’s first new single of the year, following up last year’s EP Balloons At A Funeral. Featuring production from the legendary Soundtrakk, the EP filled with shout-along choruses, driving guitars, and lyrics that navigate the disappointment that accompanies the transition from hopeful adolescence to the realities of adulthood.

Signed to 1st & 15th by Lupe Fiasco, who has brought them as openers on multiple recent tours, Two Depressed Kids have made their name in Chicago with energetic performances and sharp songwriting. In 2024, TDK shared “Not In Love,” a bouncy, Soundtrakk-produced single that earned coverage in HipHopDX, “Can I Do It By Myself,” and”Woke Up Today,” another Soundtrakk-produced effort.
