Steeped in Memphis sounds since birth, Tre Loaded is a natural spitter. Today, the 21-year-old rapper puts on his steel-toed boots and gets to “Steppin‘” with his new single. Attacking the stomp-worthy percussion–a steady cadence, occasionally interrupted by drumline fills–with cold precision, giving expert advice on when to spend and when to save: “Ay, you gotta pay what you weigh/Back in the day, I had nowhere to stay/Ay a hunnid some K in the safe/Could buy a watch, but I want me a wraith.” “Steppin” is Tre Loaded’s first single since “Can’t Get Enough,” his Tamia-sampling Valentine’s Day anthem.
