Sturdyyoungin Shares “Respectfully,” a New Single and Music Video

The 19-Year-Old Philly Native Samples “Choppa Style” by Choppa in the High-Energy Follow-Up To His Viral Hit “Trippin,” Co-Signed by Fergie and Recently Adopted by the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles as an Anthem

Sturdyyoungin Built Momentum to Start the Year With “BUMBAA,” by Ohthatsmizz Featuring Sturdyyoungin, Which Racked Up Tens of Millions of Streams

The Song:

Riding a wave of viral hits, Sturdyyoungin‘s danceable rap bangers have taken Philadelphia by storm. The 19-year-old rapper keeps his hot streak going with “Respectfully,” his new single. A feverish and uptempo Philly rap heater, “Respectfully” rides a sample of the cult 2003 hit “Choppa Style” by Choppa of No Limit, slicing it up to create an urgent call to dance. Sturdy slips into the pocket with his easygoing flow, shooting his shot at the baddest in the room and directs traffic on the dancefloor. The song arrives with a new music video, which features a cameo from close friend and frequent rhyme partner Ohthatsmizz.

“Respectfully” continues Sturdyyoungin’s run of viral hits, many of which feature his fellow Philly native Ohthatsmizz. Last month, the Sturdy, Mizz, and NYC rapper ZeddyWill connected for “Trippin’,” a joyful anthem that sampled Fergie‘s 2007 hit “Clumsy.” The song arrived with a music video that featured a cameo appearance from Fergie herself, earning attention from Billboard and racking up over 5.5 million views on YouTube. With over 11 million streams across platforms, “Trippin” was adopted by members of the Philadelphia Eagles as an anthem during their playoff run and eventual Super Bowl win–Sturdy and Mizz went to New Orleans to watch the Birds win and party with their fellow fans.

Sturdyyoungin and Ohthatsmizz started their run of viral hits in Fall 2024 with Mizz’s “BUMBAA,” a kinetic party anthem that went viral on TikTok (634k creations) and YouTube (5+ million views on the static image audio and music video combined), catching the attention of notables like Jayda Wayda and LaLa Anthony, among others. Sturdy and Mizz used the song to show off their performance skills with memorable appearances on In The Cut (5 million views) and On The Radar, and started a viral “open verse challenge” for the song, receiving thousands of videos in response. “BUMBAA” has racked up more than 20 million streams to date.

A popular figure in Philadelphia since high school, Sturdyyoungin built a following on social media by starting dance challenges to Philly club rap bangers, rocking freestyles, and just by being himself. While he first gained fame as a content creator, Sturdyyoungin pursued his music dream, making his own music on Bandlab and eventually joining up with legendary Philly dance rap crew 2Humpy, which also featured luminaries like 2RareBril, and frequent rap partner Ohthatsmizz. After 2Humpy broke up, Sturdy started to make waves on his own, and often teamed up with Ohthatsmizz to release red hot singles like “How It Goes” (also featuring Bril), racking up over 1.3 million streams on Spotify.

With “Trippin” and “BUMBAA” still on the rise, Sturdyyoungin is ready to rise to the top and take his city with him. Stay tuned for more from the young star in the near future.
