Delivering on his vast potential, the 20-year-old artist enters a new category, with Perfect Storm, his new mixtape. Perfect Storm is home to “Giannis (Remix),” a new version of Hurricane’s 2024 breakout hit with a guest verse from Polo G. The remix has over 1 million streams across platforms, and came hot on the heels of “Salute” (2.7 million video views), his collab with fellow North Florida rapper Loe Shimmy, and preceded recent releases for mixtape highlights “Demand” and “On God” ft. Spanning 24 tracks, Perfect Storm illustrates why Hurricane Wisdom is one of the most exciting artists in Florida’s bustling rap scene. From the opening track, the invigorating chipmunk soul “No Fatigue,” Hurricane delivers addictive melodies and unapologetic lyrics with the kinetic urgency of an artist hellbent on achieving rap stardom. A down-home storyteller, the Florida native serves up motivational soundtracks for everymen with dreams of sunnier days; his music gives them the resolve to get there. It’s an artistic approach as much as it is a mission, and it’s earned him a growing legion of fans, cosigns from Rod Wave and NLE Choppa, and status as one of the most potent young voices in the South East. It’s a position he reinforces with “Hard Knock Life,” an engrossing rumination on the struggle of the hopeful underdogs. His blurry melodies spill out like teardrops even as his lyrics spell out danger.
