Critical Praise:

“Like so many Houston rappers, DeeBaby has built a following thanks to viral success. Several of his videos — “Anymore,” “Never Gon End,” “Put Mo In” — have racked up millions of views.”  – The Houston Chronicle

“The soon-to-be 28-year-old is drawing a lot of comparisons to artists like Kevin Gates, Moneybagg Yo, and maybe even a splash of Kodak Black and Rod Wave.” – HotNewHipHop

“The swaggering presence of Houston’s DeeBaby feels like the product of endless freestyle cyphers.” – Passion of the Weiss

The Video:

DeeBaby’s melodic drawl entrances with easygoing flexes even as he hints as his past trauma. Treating his fans to two helpings from his upcoming album, Ms. Salazar, the Houston rapper shares a new video for his songs “Private Planes” and “Controversial.” No stranger to combining two songs into one epic video–his 2023 “Listen To Her Heart & Numb” combo has over 29 million YouTube views–DeeBaby offers an extended glimpse at his life of luxury. In “Private Planes,” a minor-key player’s anthem, the artist dresses to the nines with sparkling buffs and a tailored white suit as he enjoys a seaside vacation. The touching trap ballad “Controversial” takes place on one of the artist’s private plane trips back to his hometown, the image befitting the high-flying lyrics and his contemplation of his public perception.

“This new track was inspired by a real-life encounter,” DeeBaby says of “Private Planes.” “Fresh off a private jet in a new city, I stopped at a store and someone asked if I was a rapper. When another person confirmed it was me, I replied, ‘I’m a superstar don’t act like you don’t know my name.’ That one line sparked a whole song. It’s about staying true to yourself, proving doubters wrong, and owning your success. It’s raw, honest, and full of energy. This is one of my favorite tracks to date, and I think it’ll resonate with anyone who’s ever felt underestimated.”

“Private Plane” and “Controversial” join the romantic “Mírame Baby,” and the Kodak Black-endorsed, YouTube-trending “Half A Ticket” as highlights from the upcoming album Ms. Salazar. Dedicated to DeeBaby’s chosen (non-biological) grandmother, the woman who took him in and nurtured him when he was all out of options, the album explores the theme of chosen family, and how blood isn’t always the element that makes the strongest human connection. The follow-up to last year’s Can You Hear Me Now? tape and his breakout 2023 effort Junkie ModeMs. Salazar arrives soon via Already Platinum / Create Music Group.

DeeBaby started his rap career in 2021, catching fire with his single Marz,” racking up over 23 million YouTube views and over 19 million streams on Spotify. “Marz” catapulted DeeBaby to the forefront of the Texas rap scene, presaging a series of successful singles, including “Broken Promises” (14 million YouTube views). DeeBaby’s soulful drawl, tight rhyming technique, and raw lyricism drew the attention of Kevin Gates, who gave DeeBaby his enthusiastic co-sign, affectionately calling him “the Mexican Gates.” Peaking in the Top 10 of Apple Music’s Hip-Hop Albums chart and at #12 on Billboard Heatseekers, 2023’s Junkie Mode mixtape was a step forward for the young rapper, racking up over 242 million streams and featuring fan-favorite hits like the inspirational trap ballad “Never Gon’ End,” and the Roxette-interpolating “Listen To Your Heart” (which has over 29 million views in a combo video with “Numb”). Last year, DeeBaby made his mark with the Can You Hear Me Now? tape (#13 on Billboard Heatseekers) and finally connected with his big homie Kevin Gates for the street hit “Millions For My Pain.”

With Ms. Salazar on deck, DeeBaby is looking to build on his groundswell of support and become a national name. Stay tuned for much more from DeeBaby in 2025.
