SoCal and NorCal Connect For a 10-Track Album That Thrives on the Chemistry Between the Sacramento Native and L.A. Mainstay, Combining Flirtatious Rhymes with Street Realness

Critical Praise:

“Mozzy is the flip side of that coin, conscience-stricken and tormented by every loss. Less than a year removed from a stint in federal prison, there is seemingly even greater caution to his music now, turning his matter-of-fact disposition in an even more poignant direction. Mozzy, who recently said he was “not one to glorify his L’s,” has moved into a hyper-reflective position on his new album, Children of the Slums.” – NPR

“He never needs to raise his voice or act out just to grab your attention; his delivery is assured and consistent but never overconfident. But despite how second nature rapping is for Mozzy, he never lets that confidence tilt into arrogance.” – Pitchfork

“Mozzy is the definition of a rapper in the zone, with a signal-to-noise ratio that rivals anyone else working in hip-hop today.” – Complex

“Chalk it up as a victory for Sacramento’s lyrical champion.”HipHopDX

Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest West Coast Rap Songs of All Time (#68, “Bladadah”)

The Announcement:

Mozzy and Kalan.FrFr plan to close our 2024 with an album for players of all genders, LUCKY HER, combining their sensibilities into a breezy collection of West Coast anthems. Today, the Cali duo reveals the tracklist for the upcoming album, including collaborations with rising rap stars from all over the map. New Orleans’ own Rob49 joined the duo for last week’s luxurious single and video, “BBL,” which featured a music video with a cameo appearance from album cover star India Love. Detroit’s favorite ladies’ man Skilla Baby lends his talents to “SIZE ME UP,” while the duo welcomes Mozzy’s frequent collaborator Shordie Shordie to apply his deft melodic touch to “EULOGY.”

LUCKY HER tracklist:

  1. BBL (feat. Rob49)
  2. MY HOOD
  3. EGGS IN THE MORNING
  4. SPEEDIN!
  5. SIZE ME UP (feat. Skilla Baby)
  6. NO MUNYON NO FUNYON (Remix)
  7. RUN EM OVER
  8. EULOGY (feat. Shordie Shordie)
  9. WHERE I COME FROM (BONUS)
  10. SEEN IT ALL (BONUS)

Following in the footsteps of fan favorite songs like “Whole 100” and “No Love,” LUCKY HER combines Mozzy’s hard-nosed storytelling with Kalan’s melodic flexes and earworm hooks, resulting in a synthesis that combines R&B, rider music, and street rap into a synthesis that could only have come from the West Coast. The 10-track project is tailor made for beautiful women and the men that pursue them, presenting songs that are flirtatious and out of pocket, but doesn’t sacrifice the realness for which both emcees are known. The first collaborative album from the two respected California artists, LUCKY HER arrives December 20th via EMPIRE

With their first-ever collaborative project, Mozzy and Kalan.FrFr hope to put a finishing touch on a triumphant year for West Coast hip-hop. Stay tuned for more about LUCKY HER.
