About
Lord Sko, aka Josh Fersko, is a 20-year-old Washington Heights native. Already a veteran, having dropped 2 full-length projects, Sko continues to sharpen his sword on his forthcoming stoner classic PIFF. With production by Statik Selektah, Harry Fraud, A Lau, and his right-hand man Arlo Walker, Piff expands Sko’s classic NYC-centric sound. Inspired by the blog era, Young Sko, aka the rap Jeff Hardy, was captivated by rap music while still in middle school. Among his favorites were the stoner tangents of blog rap, including Wiz Khalifa, future collaborator Curren$y, Odd Future, and Action Bronson. After practicing his craft for 2 solid years, Sko knew it was time to share his skill with the world. At age 17, Sko teamed up with then-16-year-old wunderkind Arlo Walker to create the 2022 album Museum, which was followed up by last year’s United Palace. The forthcoming PIFF project included features from Conway The Machine, Curren$y, Polo Perks, and the legendary OG Grand Puba of Brand Nubian, to name but a few. The 14-song project is the next step in Sko’s ascension. As Sko explains, “The goal of this project was to create something generational, beyond just the throwback Boom Bap sounds I’m known for, while maintaining that feeling of the classic NYC rap music I love. I tried to combine the old and the new in an organic and very stoned way, taking inspiration from records like Mackadelic by Mac Miller and Tyler the Creator’s Wolf.” With his next record, a collaborative project with Statik Selectah, in the bag, as well as a forthcoming national tour, followed by his first European shows in 2024, the future looks bright for Sko as he continues to build at a prolific pace. Stay tuned. It’s going to be interesting.
