Ascending on the back of his powerfully smooth vocals, Internet Money-signed Rich Amiri is the next SoundCloud sensation to get mainstream recognition. Determined to prove that he’s one of one, the 19-year-old rapper shares the video for “One Call,” his latest single. Produced by Rio Leyva (of Internet Money) and Zuko, “One Call” contrasts a buzzing, dissonant instrumental with Amiri’s velvety vocals, as the young rapper puts on a masterclass in flexing. In the video, Amiri heads out into the Cali desert, with only his weapon and his woman for company.

“One Call” is a highlight from GHETTO FABULOUS, Amiri’s next project and second full-length of 2023. Spanning 14 tracks, shouldered entirely by Amiri with no features, the upcoming GHETTO FABULOUS finds the Boston-born rapper embracing the full power of his basso vocals, alternately gliding and racing atop innovative beats with full-throated authority. 2023 has been a busy year for Rich Amiri. Earlier this year, Rich Amiri announced his signing to Internet Money Records, making his longstanding relationship with the artist-producer collective official. Shortly afterward, Amiri dropped EVOLUTION, entirely produced by Internet Money, featuring singles like “Poppin” ft. Lil Tecca and “Salty.” The 12-track project was his biggest step yet in his rise from SoundCloud to nascent stardom. In 2021, he released his hit “Never Fail,” which recently surpassed 3 million streams on SoundCloud, which sparked a series of underground hits. Last year, the rapper shared his debut EP For The Better, which featured guest spots from Summrs, jaydes, and others.

Hypnotic and honeyed, Rich Amiri’s voice is like little else in rap. Having only recently started taking music seriously, his syrupy melodies have already helped him stand out from his peers in plugg&B–a slurry blend of soul and cloud rap that’s been taking over the internet. Amiri’s humble and nonchalant about his gifts but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of his scene’s most free-associative songwriters. He switches lanes with grace, as evidenced by some of the highlights from his recent EP Chase. Tracks like “J10” are low-key and sensitive, while “Never Fail” allows him room to rage, showing off his many sides in quick succession.
