The Announcement:
An incisive and comedic look inside the business of rap, Max Original Series RAP SH!T follows two women as they attempt to conquer the rap game while remaining true to themselves. Tapping into a recent renaissance, Rap Sh!t: The Mixtape (Soundtrack from the Max Original Series, S2), out November 3rd via Raedio/Def Jam Recordings, is a showcase for the breadth and diversity of talented women taking over the rap game in 2023. Today, Raedio shares “He Can’t Reach,” a collaboration between Brooklyn rising star Maiya The Don and North Texas heavyweight Enchanting, which kicks off the soundtrack on an energetic high note.
Produced by YA & Stacks of The Breed, the same duo who produced the first RAP SH!T S2 single “No Panties” ft. Sexyy Red, “He Can’t Reach” is an anthem about knowing one’s worth, shutting down disrespect, and taking the initiative to get what’s deserved. Maiya The Don and Enchanting prove to be ideal sparring partners atop the insistent piano-led beat, the former’s booming voice and brash NYC attitude contrasting beautifully with the latter’s soft-spoken Southern swag. Written by Maiya, Enchanting, and songwriters Ricky Rich and A. Chic at Raedio’s Rap Sh!t Season 2 Soundtrack writing camp, the song is endlessly quotable, as both emcees serve up lines perfectly suited to be captions for flex-heavy IG grid posts: “If looks could kill, I’d put these b*tches in the coffin/Send n****s to the chiropractor every time I walk in,” spits Maiya The Don.
Following last week’s “No Panties,” “He Can’t Reach” arrives alongside the revelation of the star-studded Rap Sh!t: The Mixtape (Soundtrack from the Max Original Series, S2) tracklist. Compiled and released by Raedio, the “audio everywhere” company, the mixtape combines original music created for the series and performed by lead characters Shawna & Mia, new songs by trailblazers like Rico Nasty, red hot risers like Kaliii and Maiya The Don, and street-savvy upstarts like Enchanting and Cam & China. The tape features further appearances from a litany of notable names from all over the country, including Lady London, Omeretta The Great, Guapdad 4000, Cleotrapa, Ben Reilly, Slimeroni, Aleza, NCognita, TeaMarr, and more. With production from the likes of Danja, Bankroll Got It, and HitKidd, the new mixtape is a love letter to the women in rap who are changing the music world just by being themselves.
Raedio is committed to propelling the most culturally relevant series and projects and spotlighting not only emerging artists, but the contributors behind the scenes that make these amazing songs possible. The RAP SH!T Season 2 mixtape originated with a vibrant writing camp, hosted at Raedio’s studio in Los Angeles, which brought in . For the mixtape artwork, Raedio paid tribute to the classic cover of Midnight Marauders by A Tribe Called Quest, one of the few covers in history that highlights the writers and producers that make magic behind the scenes. Raedio highlighted the unique camp in a recent mini-doc, out now on Raedio’s YouTube.
Stay tuned for many more announcements about the soundtrack in the coming weeks and months.
RAP SH!T returns for its second season on November 9th, only on Max.

The Background:
About RAP SH!T Season 2:
From Emmy®-nominated executive producer Issa Rae, this comedy series follows two estranged friends, Shawna and Mia, who reunite to form a rap group. Joined by promoter/manager Chastity and aspiring producer Lamont, they attempt to make their mark on the music industry without compromising who they are.
In Season 2, as Shawna and Mia slowly rise to fame, they’re faced with the balancing act of maintaining their authenticity and the pressure to conform to industry standards – all while continuing to navigate their personal struggles outside of music.
About Rap Sh!t: The Mixtape (Soundtrack from the Max Original Series, S2):
Rap Sh!t: The Mixtape (Soundtrack from the Max Original Series, S2) is more than a soundtrack, it’s a soundboard for the talent, power, and diversity of female rap. From the polarizing tone of genre bending Rico Nasty to the cerebral bars of NCognita and the unmatched energy of artists like Sexyy Red, Kaliii, Enchanting, and Maiya The Don. Compiled and released by Raedio, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings, the mixtape shows the immense impact of female rappers today and across history, while intersecting with the Max series’s themes about working hard while staying true to oneself.

About Sexyy Red:
With explicit lyricism reminiscent of Trina, the raw storytelling of Boosie Badazz and Webbie, and Chief Keef’s rugged authenticity, Sexyy Red’s raunchy, in-your-face style taps into a strain of hilarious and animated rap the game has been missing since the heyday of Gucci Mane. But don’t get it twisted – as the main creative force of her own songs, lyrics, and videos, her music is only ever 100% Sexyy.
Sexyy Red has made Summer 2023 a #SexyySummer, with her Billboard Hot 100 hit “Pound Town 2” and her acclaimed album Hood Hottest Princess. The Tay Keith-produced “Pound Town,” has spent multiple weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, reached the Top 10 on Urban Radio, and its Nicki Minaj-featuring remix “Pound Town 2,” earned a GOLD certification from the RIAA. Together, all versions of “Pound Town” have racked up over 50 million global streams. Home to other hits like “SkeeYee,” a viral anthem praised by Drake and currently charting on Apple Music’s All-Genre singles charts, Hood Hottest Princess is climbing the Billboard 200, where it reached a peak of #75, and Apple Music’s charts, where it has peaked at #6 on the Hip-Hop albums chart and #16 overall.
This is just the start of a thrilling career for Sexyy Red, who called every shot she made since high school — including the success of her latest single. Don’t try to predict where she’s going next; Sexyy Red will tell you herself.
