Armed with a veteran’s poise and an up-and-comer’s ambition, Fat Money is a street-savvy standout who bucks trends and ducks comparison. Today, the Chicago-area emcee shares his debut album, Money Got Wings. A collaboration with multi-platinum producer Cardo, who produced many of the album’s tracks, the project finds Fat Money spinning hardened street narratives through clever wordplay with the combative attitude of Chicago’s last-man-standing.

That well-earned sense of exception permeates throughout the album’s ten tracks. Teased by a pair of visual medleys, “Part 1,” which featured snippets of the singles “Introskii” and “400 Degrees,” and “Part 2,” which featured “Bag From Hell,” “Aww Man,” and “2004,” Money Got Wings captures the cinematic scenery and hard-learned lessons of a street-led life in exquisite detail. Whether he’s reveling in his OG status with Chicago legend Bump J on “Old White Man,” flaunting his versatility with potent melodies on “Dracula,” or strong-arming the snakes with explosive drill flows on “BackInnaRaq,” Money Got Wings is an elevation from start to finish.

Since receiving cosigns from Kanye West, who he wrote for on Donda 2, Dr. Dre, with whom he recently spent time in the studio, Pusha T, and Antonio Brown, the industry is taking note of Fat Money’s ability to go bar-for-bar with the best in the game. On his recent release, Disruptive 2, the artist flexed his lyrical muscles over well-known beats from artists like Future and Tems, following up December’s 7-track Disruptive, on which Fat Money took songs from Kodak Black, Chief Keef, and more and made them his own.
