Video: Mo3 – “Black Corona”
The Coronavirus is Just Another Struggle For the Dallas Rapper and His Impoverished Home Neighborhood
The Video:
Though he’s experienced success in recent years, Dallas rhymer Mo3 stays plugged into the daily struggles in his community. On his new video single, “Black Corona,” Mo3 takes a microscope to the global coronavirus pandemic, and examining how the disease affects his community in particular. Soulfully sing-rapping atop a guitar-laden instrumental, Mo3 reveals how his community is left behind, even in (or especially in) times of crisis: “People hurtin’ yea the system, so sorry/They say the virus got us hacked/But where I’m at we livin’ bad.” In the video, Mo3 flaunts social distancing recommendations in defiance of the virus (note: we do not recommend this), gathering in a Dallas park in his Fendi jacket and lamenting the everyday viruses for which we have no cure: “N****s hatin’ on other n****s, that’s a virus.”
Released over the weekend, “Black Corona” already has more than 500k views on YouTube, and earned coverage in Rolling Stone. “Black Corona” follows up Mo3’s pugilistic video for “Beat Em Up” (350k views), and the clip for “Stack It Up” (761k views on YouTube), a Jazze Pha collaboration from his Osama album.
The Dallas rhymer recently teamed up with Boosie BadAzz for BadAzz Mo3. Bursting with emotion and rich with detail, the tape boasts highlights suited for any situation, from the bouncy, club-ready “Move,” to the twinkling-yet-ferocious “I Remember,“ and “Supposed To Do,” a melodic ode to the struggle. In December, Mo3 dropped Osama, which racked up over 12 million streams across platforms, and spawned successful videos like “Apartment” (5.1 million views), “Why” (2 million views), and “Ride For Me” (2.2 million views). BadAzz Mo3 and Osama are both available to stream via H$M Music/EMPIRE.
