Mixtape: Mo3 & Boosie BadAzz – BadAzz Mo3
The Texas Trapper and the Baton Rouge Veteran Form Like Voltron for a Set of Streetwise Songs
The Mixtape:
Known for his raw lyricism, athletic rhymes, and bluesy croon, Dallas native Mo3 is the heir to a noble Southern rap tradition. Getting the ultimate co-sign from Boosie BadAzz, Mo3 shares BadAzz Mo3, a full-length collaborative mixtape with the Baton Rouge-born legend. Bursting with emotion and rich with detail, the tape boasts highlights suited for any situation, from the bouncy, club-ready “Move,” to the twinkling-yet-ferocious “I Remember,“ and “Supposed To Do,” a melodic ode to the struggle. Throughout, the duo displays a lived-in chemistry that belies their age difference, as Mo3 offers veteran-level wisdom and Boosie puts his heart and soul into his helium bars. Spanning fifteen street-savvy tracks, BadAzz Mo3 is available to stream everywhere via H$M/BadAzz Music Syndicate/EMPIRE.
“Booise and I have been in the studio for the past 4-5 months,” says Mo3. “We did song after song after song and heard feedback from multiple people that told us to drop a project together and it just made a lot of sense given how much we were already in the studio together. A few of my favorite tracks on the tape: ‘My People In Prison,’ ‘Mop With It’ and ‘One of Them Days Again.'”
Frequent collaborators even before the mixtape, Boosie discovered Mo3 in 2016–he flew down to Dallas to try to sign the younger rapper before realizing Mo3 had to take his own path. Instead, Boosie became Mo3’s most enthusiastic co-signee, hopping on the remix for “Everybody,” Mo’s breakthrough hit and racking up over 60 million combined YouTube views on the music video (the “Everybody” Remix is included on the Badazz Mo3 tape). Boosie also appeared on “Apartment” (3.2 million views), the latest video from Mo3’s late-2019 album Osama.
Titled after a nickname he earned in the streets, 3’s latest solo album Osama takes a deep dive into all aspects of Mo3’s life, from lessons learned in his rough upbringing, to his relationship with his rising fame, to his everyday life in Dallas. Delivering his missives with a bluesy croon that can switch on a dime to ferocious rhymes, 3 is always honest and emotional, unafraid to reveal the man behind the mic. With over 12 million streams across platforms, Osama is available to stream everywhere via H$M/EMPIRE.
