With a piercing tenor and a rapidly-growing fanbase, South Carolina’s Lil Mexico is breathing life into his state’s rap scene. Today, the 22-year-old rhymer announces Life Of An Outlaw, his upcoming mixtape. A full-length collaboration with JetsonMade, a fellow SC native who produced many of DaBaby‘s biggest hits, the project highlights Lil Mexico’s impressive melodies and his high-energy rhymes. Featuring appearances from Lil Keed, Lil GotIt, and Yung Mal, Life Of An Outlaw releases on December 11th.
Taking us inside his glamorous trap house, Lil Mexico shares “Trap Boys,” his new video with Yung Mal. With an apocalyptic beat from JetsonMade, “Trap Boys” is a bouncy and addictive trap banger, with a drawly hook from Mexico and a standout verse from the 1017 Eskimo rapper. In the video, Mal and Mexico kick back in a mood-lit crib with some gorgeous models, reveling in the fruits of their trap labors. “Trap Boys” remixes a standout track from Lil Mexico’s Trench Baby 2.5 mixtape.
Born and raised in Gray Court, a small town in northwestern South Carolina (est. population 1,021), Lil Mexico started rapping at the age of eleven, inspired by Lil Wayne’s mixture of punchlines, charisma, and mass appeal. In 2017, Mexico started to gain traction with “Forever,” a low-budget, high-energy video that offered a glimpse of his country trap lifestyle. With his Trench Baby mixtape series, Mexico grew his core fanbase and solidified his reputation in the Southern scene, recruiting the likes of Fredo Bang, NGeeYL, and Slimelife Shawty for his recent Trench Baby 2.5. With Life Of An Outlaw, Lil Mexico crashes into 2020 with a head full of steam, looking to confirm his status as one of the south’s most promising emcees.
