Video: Lil Yee – “Sacrifice” ft. FMB DZ and Lil Pete
The San Francisco Rapper Shares the PUB-Premiered Clip From the Live 4 It, Die 4 It Project

Critical Praise:
“Lil Yee is dope. He’s from Filmore, and has a song called ‘Hopeless’ that I have on repeat right now. I’m a little late on that record, but it’s still on that repeat. When I heard him, I thought that he was making some music that wasn’t just local-sounding. It sounds like it could be played everywhere.” – Clyde Carson in an interview with The BoomBox
The Video:
Packing raw emotion into his lilting melodies, Lil Yee never fails to keep it real. Pouring out his soul over an entrancing piano loop, Lil Yee puts it all on the line in “Sacrifice,” his latest video. Holing up in an abandoned arcade his San Francisco neighborhood with guest stars FMB DZ and Lil Pete, Yee reminisces on his losses and the lessons he’s learned. “Sacrifice” is one of the highlights from Live 4 It, Die 4 It, Lil Yee’s new mixtape, following the lead single and video “Red Eagle,” produced by Zaytoven and Cassius Jay and premiered by HYPEBEAST, and the hyperlocal video for “Concrete Jungle,” hosted on No Jumper.
The proper follow-up to his 2017 album Cita Son, Live 4 It, Die 4 It finds Lil Yee expanding his style, moving beyond the traditional Mob music styles of his home neighborhood towards melodic trap of Atlanta, and the snapping West Coast sound favored in L.A. and the East Bay. With production from FKI 1st, Zaytoven, Cassius Jay, Helluva, and YK of 808 Mafia, Yee’s album is a freewheeling, pan-regional affair, and the San Francisco rapper crosses boundaries with his inimitable style. Featuring the flex-happy anthem “Designer Baby,” which released in July and has over 391k video views, and with appearances from E-40, Mozzy, and with a posthumous verse from The Jacka, Live 4 It, Die 4 It is now available via G-Affair/EMPIRE.

The Background:
San Francisco rapper Lil Yee’s first three songs all reached more than a million people before he ever signed a record deal. “So Lost,” “We Livin’ Hopeless,” and “War” built a dedicated fan-base. From the historic Fillmore District, Yee is influenced by 1990s greats from his neighborhood such as San Quinn, Rappin’ 4-Tay, and Messy Marv. This rapper of Black and Puerto Rican heritage raps about loss, reaching for a better lifestyle, and a Bay Area underbelly that goes overlooked. 2019’s Live 4 It, Die 4 It builds on that story, with production by Zaytoven and features from Mozzy, E-40, and FMB DZ.
