Flashing inventive and elastic flows over the best beats the Bay Area has to offer, Nef The Pharaoh is a growing legend in his home region and beyond. Announcing his arrival with appropriate fanfare, Nef The Pharaoh proclaims his rap supremacy on “Big Boss Chang,” his new single. Rocking a hyperactive cadence over a lurching, monster-movie instrumental, Nef lays out his mission statement for 2018, as he evolves from an apprentice to a master. The latest in a line of quality singles from Nef, “Big Boss Chang” follows “Bussin‘,” a gloriously over-the-top hybrid of Bay Area mob and Southern trap, which was the first Adult Swim Single of 2018. The new single will appear on The Big Chang Theory, Nef’s upcoming album, due to release in Q1 of this year.

Combining an old-school, colorful rhyming style with pristine, state-of-the-art Bay Area production, Nef turned heads with 2017’s The Chang Project. A mature effort from the Sick Wid It signee, representative of his growth from teenaged phenom to a father and a leaderthe album boasted appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Larry June, Caleborate, SOB x RBE, OMB Peezy, Jay Ant, and others. This past summer, Nef The Pharaoh opened for A$AP Ferg at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and graced the stage this as a hometown hero at Rolling Loud Bay Area. In December, Nef released a series of loose singles and videos, as he somberly and intelligently addressed social issues in the video for “LOE Gino’s Interlude,”Nef’s collaboration with fellow Oakland rapper LOE Gino, and then quickly changed gears for the fun-loving, funky, Nickelodeon-influenced “Kenan & Kel.” Nef The Pharaoh closed out 2017 when he graced the stage of Rolling Loud Southern California in San Bernardino, California. Praised by Jeff Weiss as “the best rapper from Vallejo since the last great rapper from Vallejo,” the legendMac Dre being his predecessor, 21 -year-old Nef The Pharaoh is one of the Bay Area’s most exciting young emcees. Signed to E-40‘s Sick Wid It Records, Nef The Pharaoh delivered his debut retail release, a self-titled EP, in November 2015 to high critical praise. Featuring the breakthrough radio hit “Big Tymin’,” which charted at #34 on San Francisco’s 106 KMEL‘s Top 106 Songs of 2015 and earned more than 7.7 million views on YouTube, the Nef The Pharaoh EP firmly established the rapper on the national scene.
