The Podcast:

Statement from Robert “Bobbito” Garcia, August 15, 2017:

“Linda Sarsour’s voice needs to be heard, not just in times when civic discourse devolves into violence, but at any and all times that sexism, racism, and ignorance exist. Which, unfortunately, is constant. We hope that you enjoy our interview with her, which was pre-recorded two months ago so it does not include or reflect commentary on recent events. Word.”

Though legendary DJs Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia made a name for themselves talking Hip-Hop with legends in the game, the duo’s new NPR show finds them expanding their horizons and interviewing fascinating people from all walks of life. In Episode 5 of “What’s Good with Stretch and Bobbito,” they have a gripping discussion with Linda Sarsour, a human rights activist, the former executive director of the Arab Association of New York and one of the organizers of the Women’s March that occurred the day after the Presidential Inauguration. In their interview, Stretch and Bobbito dive deep into Sarsour’s background, touching on her upbringing in Brooklyn, her reaction to Islamaphobia in the wake of 9/11, intersectionality between different progressive movements, and activism in the age of Trump. The insightful conversation proves that their easy conversational style and their probing interviews transcend all topics.

As hosts of a cultishly beloved college radio show from 1990 to 1998, they helped buoy the careers of artists such as Jay-Z, Wu-Tan Clan, Nas, Notorious B.I.G, and many more. With “What’s Good,” hosted by NPR, Stretch and Bobbito will bring their signature wit and empathetic interview questions to brand new conversations with cultural movers and shakers in art, music, politics, and sports. Previous guests have included Chance The Rapper, Mahershala AliEddie Huang, and Dave Chappelle, and upcoming episodes will feature the likes of Stevie Wonder and more.
