“His hook and verses are on-point.” – MissInfo.TV

The Song:
Coming off the release of his latest concept album, Kidnapped, Wara From the NBHD has debuted his new harrowing, personal single, “Case Closed.” “Wara offers two completely different samples of his style on just one track by easily flowing form a smooth melody to a more energetic and grittier beat,” says Pigeons and Planes in their premiere of the song. “Case Closed” is an introspective look into the life of Wara and the relationship he has with his incarcerated brother, whose face is shown on the single’s cover art. The NYC-born, ATL-based rapper previews his new lyrical direction for his next project; leaving the fictional characters portrayed in his music behind into a more personal narrative. On referencing this significant shift and the songs lyrical content Wara states, “100 percent of my songs are basically always telling a story, but now that I got my character shit off with Kidnapped, it’s time to give my fans all of me and talk about my life. Because it’s so real, it’s only right people know, and my brother is a major part of that.”
With the lyrics, “Last week I got a phone call / It was my brotha knocked down south/ left with the task of having murder the summer / due to pressure you under, cause he ain’t leavin’ until fall,” Wara goes into detail of the pressure he’s faced regarding his new found stardom with the struggles found at home. On referencing this frustration Wara reflects, “…now it’s time to really step for my family, because my brother’s locked up so it’s even more reason to go harder knowing that I want to be successful by the time he’s out,” and that, “the song is definitely about my anger towards him being locked up for song long. Knowing how good a dude he is, it angers me to see my people a part of the system over and over.”
With production handled by Atlanta producer 8-Track, the track features Wara’s vexation over modulated vocals and delicate, melancholy laced piano riffs, before transforming into an energetic frenzy full of thundering drums. Speaking on the production, Pigeons and Planes compliments the duo with the praise, “the switch up of the beat drives the point home by being reminiscent of the roller coaster of emotions people go through when dealing with the ups and downs of life.”
With appearances from Fool’s Gold‘s GrandMarshall, and Two-9’s Rell and LightSkin Mac-11, Kidnapped conveys the story of a gifted street hustler named “Piano Lessons.” Wara explains in an interview with HotNewHipHop, saying, “I feel like concepts and storytelling just brings out a better artist in me, simply because of the enigma.” Carefully woven together by grimy basslines and live instrumentation, the album provides a tasteful balance while pressing traditional hip-hop boundaries, as HNHH professes, “Wara has been holding it down for musically explorative hip-hop.” In his feature interview with XXL, the multi-talented ATLien makes a bold claim: “My main goal in hip-hop is to bring back the art form; I’m going to be the biggest rapper/producer of my time.” Kidnapped is available on iTunes as well as an illustrated version of the the project you can check out here.

Wara From the NBHD Background:
Wara From the NBHD might be ATL’s next rising star. The Brooklyn born, Atlanta-based rapper serves as an embodiment of both of the areas he grew up in. An artist with a unique ability to blend both cultures seamlessly with striking lyricism and impressive production. This sentiment is highlighted with Wara’s latest release The Ill Street Blues a mix tape garnering critical praise from notable outlets such as The Fader, Complex and XXL. The project portrays a dichotomy of the good and bad Wara has experienced in his life, notably personified by his son sitting next to a gun on the mix tapes cover. His new release Kidnapped, is a concept album produced entirely by himself.
