The Song:
Bobby Brackins, the artist who’s been responsible for writing and producing countless hits, is stepping out from behind the shadows to execute a full resurgence regarding his solo career as a performer with the single, “Hot Box,” featuring artists G-Eazy and Mila J. With a few solo hits under his belt in past years such as “143” featuring Ray J and “A1” featuring Dev, and more recently being known for helping write the Chris Brown smash “Loyal,” and Tinashe’s “2 On,” Bobby Brackins is creating a name for himself in the new wave of self-made songwriters, artists and producers. With over 25 million YouTube plays, and international radio spins to his credit, the established soloist has written for and collaborated with a litany of artists including Ty Dolla $ign, YG, Iamsu!, Trey Songz, Jeremih, Zendaya, and more. When reflecting on his incredible career Bobby states, “People are seeing my name more and more, and they’re giving me a little more credit. I’m excited about dropping my own music and giving people the awareness that I’ve helped mold the new West Coast sound.”
Teaming up with Tinashe’s “2 On” producer, Redwine, “Hot Box” track was entirely written by Bobby and showcases the artist’s unique creativity. “I always prefer to make records from scratch so I can be heavily involved in the creation of the beat. I always give the producer of the beat that I’m working with insight on the direction I want to take a record and tell them when to take sounds out and I hum melodies and patterns to add in. After the beat is off to a good start I like to lay down the hook and then build from there,” Bobby states.
With trap-styled production, hand claps, and a low bpm perfect for any house party, “Hot Box” illustrates Bobby’s tenacity for song writing and ability to cross seamlessly into the pop rap world while still maintaining his East Oakland roots. Matched with lyrics, “Roll up with the windows up I’m still sippin’ whiskey from the solo cup,” “Hot Box” is guaranteed to be a house party staple. On referencing the creation of the track Bobby reflects, “Hot Box is going to pop off in parties, and functions. It sounds amazing in the car, people are going to pre-party and cruise to it and play it when then are in the mood to have good time. People are going to start understating that my sound is what has generated a lot of what’s working on the radio. I’m exited to put out my new music, I was behind the scenes for a while now it’s time to get it poppin’ for myself.”
