Critical Praise for The Bangerz:

“Reminiscent of some of Mord Fustang‘s first productions, ”Stars”  is a perfect track to include in your party playlists, just in time for summer.” – Earmilk

“Slow tempo or straight-to-your-face banging, this album definitely shows how multi-faceted The Bangerz’ style is.” – Do Androids Dance

“The latest release from the album is “Legends Never Die,” a little ditty you can … scream along to.” – Vice’s Noisey

The Song:

Today The FADER premiered a collision of the hip-hop and EDM genres as Northern California’s six-person production and DJ crew The Bangerz add their unique blend of dubstep, trap and hip-hop influenced flavor to the Iamsu! track “Rep That Gang,” taken from his latest mixtape, KILT 2. The track retains it’s original head-bopping qualities with percussive synth pops and congas before the kick drum drops accompanied with heavy filtered synth basses as Iamsu!’s chopped and screwed vocals punctuate along the way.

“We recently found out that we had some mutual friends [with Iamsu!],” explains group member Nick Ngo Bangerz, “So we thought it would only be right to try and help push the movement. Also being from the Bay Area we’ve been fortunate enough to watch him really push forward in a big way in the past few years.” With ample material to chose from on KILT 2, The Bangerz singled out “Rep That Gang” in particular as a track that lyrically and sonically fell in line with their style and would lend itself well to their production talents. Remixing, of course, has always been a huge aspect of the The Bangerz artistry and they always strive to bring something new to a track, “We feel like it’s important to give the listener a new experience with it,” Nick continues, “For us, it was about giving it a different energy. If the remix sounded similar to the original then what’s the point?”

With more remixes on the horizon and having recently released their latest album PRISM, which also doubles as the soundtrack to hip-hop dance crew the Jabbawockeez’s current Las Vegas show, The Bangerz continue to flex their creative muscles and offer up their own unique blend of multiple musical genres.

The Bangerz Background:

The Bangerz, a six-person production supergroup of Goldenchyld, Replay, Nick Ngo Bangerz, Cutso, Squareweezy, and G-Wrex, has evolved over time, but their roots are in Northern California where the crew met as DJs in high school. They quickly made a name for themselves, winning multiple turntablist competitions and crossed paths with then unknown dance crew, the Jabbawockeez. Before long, the Jabbawockeez were turning to the Bangerz to create all the original music for Jabbawockeez performance – an almost unheard of relationship in 2003 – and kept them close while they went on to win MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew and set up their first Vegas show. Mus.i.C, the score to that Vegas show, was produced entirely by the Bangerz and charted right behind Daft Punk’s Tron on iTunes upon its release.

Combining DJ skill with slick production that spans multiple genres from house, trance and dubstep to hip-hop, pop and R&B, their innovative approach to their material has served The Bangerz well, propelling them to numerous career highlights collectively and individually, including group member Replay producing tracks for Diplo, Kelis and Chris Brown.  Individually, the Bangerz have made their name as dancefloor conductors for years. Members have performed with Afrika Bambaataa, the Clipse, WuTang’s Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Kid Koala, shared tour routes with Z-Trip, and played alongside Major Lazer and Odd Future at festivals like New Orleans’ Voodoo Fest. But with the growing popularity of melting-pot electronica where 808s and hard synths reign supreme, The Bangerz have once again found outlets for their expertise to shine. In the past year, the group was solicited by the director of Project X to produce a track for the film’s anything-goes party soundtrack. The group also released their next album PRiSM, which is the score to the second Jabbawockeez’s Vegas show, on June 25.
