Splitting the difference between Rap and R&B, Toronto duo 88GLAM (Derek Wise & 88 Camino) makes music for the midnight hour. Sharing a full-length collection of audio noir, 88GLAM discuss drugs, girls, and luxury cars in 88GLAM, their glowed-up debut project. Featuring the Billboard–premiered hit single “12,” which has over 60,000 YouTube views on its video since its release on Wednesday, 88GLAM is a cohesive and cinematic project, packed with subdued, yet speaker-knocking instrumentals. Featuring an appearance from NAV, the album’s success rests on the chemistry of the XO-affiliated duo, who embody the aesthetic of Toronto’s late night party scene. 88GLAM also released their second music video from the eponymous debut today in “Bali,” the NAV-assisted track from the project. Directed by 88GLAM & Cash, the video finds all three young rappers flexing in front of luxury SUVs and partying in the club with their crew. Paired with the “12” video, 88GLAM has crafted the perfect hazy aesthetic to match their trippy album.
A product of pure collaboration between two Toronto artists, 88GLAM formed after Derek Wise and 88 Camino grew to appreciate each other’s style in the city’s late night party scene. On the record, Wise’s authoritative baritone meshes brilliantly with Camino’s emotive tenor, painting the album’s neon-lit soundscapes with compelling rhymes. Derek Wise Background:

Derek Bissue (born December 11th, 1992) better known by his stage name Derek Wise, is a Canadian rapper born in the Scarborough region of Toronto, Canada. Wise began rapping at the age of 10 years old. Listening to an array of musical creatives spanning several genres helped him develop a sound that is natural in every setting; along with his command of rhythm and cadence, this is his greatest gift. Derek’s unstable upbringing and his mother playing the role of both parents taught Derek how to be independent and the ability to rise above any circumstance, which presently is a common theme in much of Derek’s music. His unique perspective is a result of his interests in classic mob movies and taste for culture.

Wise has fought through adversity and maintained a unique wave of monstrous releases in the past few months including his new 2017 debut project, INGLORIOUS available now at all digital retailers. His latest single and video, “Disconnected” received overwhelming acclaim from fans and press as it exemplified Derek’s distinct melodies. The video for “Disconnected” was a nominee for iHeartRadio’s MUCH MUSIC VIDEO AWARD for Best Hip Hop Video. The long-awaited INGLORIOUS project provides a vivid, cinematic look into the mind of Derek Wise but, its only the beginning.

88 Camino Background:

Shakqueel Burthwright (born June 14th, 1992} better known as 88 Camino, is a Canadian rapper born in the Scarborough region of Toronto,Canada. Shakqueel began rapping at the age of 17 years old. Listening to an array of musical creatives spanning several genres helped him develop a sound that has a lot of replay value. When Shakqueel was 9 years old, his mother moved away to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for school and brought him with her for a new journey. Eight years later, 88 returns to Toronto, Canada and had a mission to pursue music on a high level. After releasing a ton of old music numerous years ago, 88 Camino has taken more than a year off to perfect his craft and he is ready for the world to hear his drug-infused euphoric timeless sound. His unique perspective is a result of his interests in real life observations.
