Critical Praise:
“The sounds of Atlanta hip-hop remained dominant in 2016 thanks in part to a steady stream of new ideas and new stars. One of the most promising up-and-comers is YFN Lucci.” – Billboard
Artist to Watch in 2017: YFN Lucci – HotNewHipHop
The Video:
A hard-as-nails rapper with a remarkable facility for melody and memorable hooks, YFN Lucci was one of the breakout rap stars of 2016. Last February, YFN Lucci released Wish Me Well 2, the mixtape that transformed him from a local Atlanta hero to a nationally recognized figure on the Hip-Hop scene. One year after the mixtape’s release, YFN Lucci revisits his journey with “Documentary,” a standout from Wish Me Well 2 that now gets the visual treatment. Made with archival footage of YFN Lucci recording in the studio and performing in front of screaming crowds, “Documentary” is a black-and-white snapshot of the life of a rising rap star.
“Documentary” continues a busy 2017 for the Think It’s a Game signee, coming hot on the heels of “Everyday We Lit,” a PNB Rock-featuring single currently working its way up the radio charts as a new anthem, and “Never Worried,” which gives YFN Lucci fans a sneak peak of what to expect from his new EP, releasing soon. Continuing his momentum, YFN Lucci will join Jeezy and Lil Durk on Jeezy’s Trap or Die 3 Tour, which embarks on March 1st with a show in Kansas City, and ends on April 6th in San Diego.
After making a name for himself on the Atlanta rap scene with his melodic trap music, YFN Lucci earned his first major hit in 2016 with “Key to the Streets,” a critical and commercial success. Featuring guest appearances from Quavo and Takeoff of Migos, as well as Atlanta local favorite Trouble, “Key To The Streets” steadily climbed throughout the year, accumulating over 42 million YouTube views, peaking at #70 at the Billboard charts, and reaching #1 on Mediabase‘s urban airplay chart. Buoyed by “Key To The Streets,” YFN Lucci earned recognition throughout the music industry, with Billboard and HotNewHipHop each naming him an Artist To Watch for 2017. With collaborations with artists such as Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, who joined YFN Lucci for a “Keys To The Streets” remix, as well as Migos, Plies, Young Scooter, and Lil Durk under his belt, YFN Lucci is poised to raise his profile even higher in 2017.
