Video: Skooly – “Dirty Dawg ‘Insane'”
The T.R.U. Signee and ATL Innovator Mobs With Pit Bulls Amidst Psychedelic Visuals in the Karen Civil-Premiered Video From Don’t You Ever Forget Me Vol. 1 EP
2.6.2018
The Video:
With an infectious melodic style that influenced ATL’s radio-dominating sound, Skooly aims to turn his behind-the-scenes clout into mainstream recognition. Alternating auto-tuned vocal runs with rhythmic flows over vibrant minor-key piano, Skooly explains what makes him different in “Dirty Dawg ‘Insane’,” his latest video. The video finds the West Side rapper in the woods, reminiscing about his pre-fame life, as he tends to a vicious brood of dogs. Anchored by the T.R.U. signee’s indomitable charisma, the video boasts a dizzying array of visual effects, adding a psychedelic vibe to the clip. “Dirty Dawg ‘Insane'” is the introductory track from Don’t You Ever Forget Me Vol. 1, Skooly’s adventurous and infectious new EP.
A sonic innovator and an architect of Atlanta’s melodic trap renaissance, credited as an influence by Young Thug among others, Skooly is ready to make the move from underground hero status to mainstream recognition with his Don’t You Ever Forget Me trilogy. A seven-track dose of bubblegum trap, Vol. 1 features radio-ready jams like “White Balenciaga,” druggy anthems like “Leakin,” and bangers like “Habit,” which features label boss 2 Chainz and is currently hosted on Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist.. On Don’t You Ever Forget Me, Skooly gets real about his journey, detailing his years of being one of Atlanta’s most prolific collaborators and finding real ones to ride along the way. “The title, Don’t You Ever Forget Me, is self-explanatory for the music and I’ll get that point across in the bodies of the EPs,” says Skooly. “I dropped my first album a while ago and it did well and I sold out my first concert double. I’m back, I’m here, and you can never forget me. To all the people I’ve helped, there’s no way they can forget me. I’ve been known to wait a long time to release projects but I’m jumping out of that rhythm to do this, like a 1, 2, 3 punch, back to back to back. I’m on a different path, I’m here, I’m not playing.”

EMPIRE Background:
EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Sage The Gemini, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels. Given its reputation, EMPIRE works with today’s hottest talent from superstars such as T.I. and red-hot newcomers such as Anderson .Paak. While remaining 100% independent, EMPIRE has also partnered with Atlantic Records for a joint venture, home to breakout star D.R.A.M. and joined forces with Republic Records for the release of Sage The Gemini’s Remember Me album.
