The Remix:
Sir Michael Rocks will be releasing his long-awaited debut solo album, Banco, tomorrow. With anticipation nearing its peak, Rocks has teamed up with his tour DJ Stezus, and Diplo-affiliated producer SAiNT, for an EDM remix of the album’s latest single, “Bussin,” which premiered on BBC’s Diplo and Friends on 1Xtra & Radio 1 over the weekend.
The original single, featuring rappers Casey Veggies and Iamsu!, has has eclipsed over 160k listens on SoundCloud and had its own haunted-house themed video premiered by the AV Club last week. Called a “perfect soundtrack for adding a little human sacrifice to your summer BBQs,” by Noisey, the track is quickly becoming a club-ready, house party favorite. Following the videos for “Playstation 1.5“ and “Fuck SeaWorld,” Banco is slated to be one of the most experimental, energetic, hip-hop albums of the year.
Coming off of Stezus’ epic remix and video for Meek Mill’s, “Levels,” and SAiNT’s video for his club anthem, “Heathers,” both producers are proving 2014 to be their year, rising above predictable mediocrity felt in dance music today. Joining forces, the duo formed their own collective TEAM [NO] and released their first single together, remixing Sir Michael Rocks new single “Bussin” into a low BPM frenzy. Panning behind hard-hitting 808’s, hi-hat rolls, snares, and chopped up vocals, the track has become an undeniable party starter.
Sir Michael Rocks’ album, Banco, features Too $hort, Mac Miller, Twista, Iamsu, Trinidad James, Casey Veggies, Robb Bank$, Pouya, and Chuck Inglish, featuring production from DJ Mustard, and showcases Sir Michael at his most inventive. Sir Michael Rocks also announced via Twitter that The Cool Kids will be ending their hiatus and reuniting to release their highly anticipated album, Shark Week, by the end of the year. This will mark the first album The Cool Kids will have released since their 2011 album When Fish Ride Bicycles.
Sir Michael Rocks will be hosting a preview party of the album on YouTube tonight 9pmET/6pmPT here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1mVRuX4HhI

Sir Michael Rocks Background:
Sir Michael Rocks has always been a little ahead of his time, a little more original than his peers, a little bit more creative. As a teenager, he started making music under the name Mikey Rocks as one half of groundbreaking duo The Cool Kids. Formed over the Internet and powered by a strong grassroots fanbase online, the group helped redefine the image of rap for the Internet era with an effortlessly cool throwback style and an iconic, laid-back fashion sense. Rechristening himself as Sir Michael Rocks in 2011, the restlessly creative artist, now based in Miami after time spent in Chicago and LA, has been pushing the boundaries of rap originality even further in recent years with a string of popular, critically acclaimed mixtapes. As he explores an increasingly far-ranging set of ideas and prepares his solo debut album, Banco, the lifelong impulse to explore and innovate remains at the forefront of what Rocks is trying to accomplish.
