The Song:
MerCure Dior’s freshly released MerCure Dior (The EP) premiered with an interview on Jenesis Magazine last week. The three-song offering was entirely written and produced by MerCure himself, giving the public a preview of the 19-year-old’s multi-faceted talents and his broad range and potential. “Ok, Straight,” which premiered via Earmilk has a mainstream, electronic rap vibe, while “Dreams Equal Secrets,” debuted via Okayplayer/PotholesInMyBlog, is more of an introspective cut. In “Monday Night,” the laid-back single he shares today, listeners find out that MerCure can shine not only as a rapper, but also as a singer. The track opens with crooning vocals giving way to MerCure’s hard-hitting rhymes in the final verse. “Monday Night” reveals MerCure’s late night thoughts of ambition, singing “It’s so hard to get on, multiply that by the stress/ But I must learn to progress, if I want to be the best.”
MerCure immigrated to Maryland from Italy when he was only four years old and his musical abilities quickly became evident. “Rapping was one of the earliest skills that I learned,” MerCure told Jenesis Magazine in an exclusive interview. “I would always try to remember the raps that I liked from my favorite rappers at the time, and I would spit them to all my friends in elementary school and say they were mine [laughs].” In addition writing raps as a child, MerCure played multiple instruments and was producing his own beats by the age of nine. On living in Greenbelt, home to other up-and-coming artists such as GoldLink, MerCure says, “Greenbelt has such a mellow vibe when you enter the city, and I feel like when you listen to an artist from the area you can feel the emotion. We have very far to go but we’re definitely trying to make our mark in history, not many have made it from where we’re from.”

MerCure Dior Background:
MerCure Dior was born of Cameroonian roots in Torino, Italy. At the age of four, his family relocated to the United States. His love for music allowed an easy transition into American culture, quickly teaching himself to play both guitar and piano as a child. However, he wasn’t fully satisified with the sound he was producing. At only nine years old he downloaded music producing software and began creating his own beats to rap over. Dior’s music was heavily influenced by his international heritage. Two of his uncles were credited with inspiring songs for James Brown and Michael Jackson and later helped to provide the Bendskin (Cameroon’s unique blend of pop and hip-hop) element in Dior’s music. Dior was further inspired by artists such as Tupac, Michael Jackson, and Kanye West, he continued to pursue his passion in music and dropped several mixtapes throughout middle school and high school. This assisted him in creating a solid fanbase known as The Disciple Life Ones, supporting the importance of spirituality that is present in Dior’s life and music.
