Critical Praise
“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” – Pitchfork
The Announcement:
On October 19th we celebrate #DurkDay. Happy 25th birthday, Durk!
To celebrate reaching the quarter-century mark, Durk announces Signed To The Streets 2.5, his latest mixtape. An appropriate capper to an outstanding year, STTS 2.5 is the latest edition of Durk‘s Signed To The Streets series and the first entry to the series since 2014. Releasing on October 19thvia MyMixtapes, STTS 2.5 features a more mature Lil Durk than the reckless firebrand found on the first two installment, as he grapples with loss, legal issues, and being a role model to his three kids. Today, LilDurk shares the video for “Make It Out,” a poignant and personally revealing single from the upcoming project, via WorldStarHipHop. In the video, Durk stunts in his Rari with his OTF (Only The Family) brethren, including signees Yung Tory and OTF Ikey, brandishing his handgun and chomping on a cigar. Premiered last month by XXL, “Make It Out” has more than 619,000 plays and 14,200 likes on SoundCloud.
An emotionally lyricist and a master of auto-tuned melody, Lil Durk has been very active in the past few months. Since his 24th birthday last October, Durk moved out of Chicago and bought a house in Atlanta, released three projects, and saw his hit single “My Beyoncé,” featuring Dej Loaf, attain Gold certification from the RIAA. This summer, Durk teamed up with fellow Drill movement rapper Lil Reese for Supa Vultures EP, a six-track collaborative project. Distributed by EMPIRE, Supa Vultures EP features the hit single “Distance,” recently featured in Complex’s Bout To Blow column, which has earned nearly 3 million views on YouTube since August, as well as the Durk solo track “Nobody Knows,” with a video premiered by Karen Civil. The OTF spitter also made appearances on Young Thug’s EBBTG, Trae Tha Truth‘s Tha Truth 3, and Ralo x Gucci Mane‘s Ralo LaFlare. Durk‘s February project Love Songs For the Streets featured YFN Lucci and Young Thug, as the 24-year-old honed a matured sound. Blending his melodic approach to drill with Atlanta’s trap movement, Lil Durk will continue to evolve and grow as an artist and continue to please newcomers and longtime fans alike. Last month, Durk collaborated with ATL mainstays Future and Jeezy for the Southside-produced “Goofy

The Background:
EMPIRE Background
EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Sage The Gemini, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels.
