Single: Lil Durk – “Turn Myself In”
The Chicago-Born Rap Star Sends a Message to His Fans Before He Surrenders to the Authorities
5.30.2019
Critical Praise:
“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” –Pitchfork
“Lil Durk continues to be one of the most consistent rappers out.” – The FADER
“the rose that blossomed from the concrete of Chi-Town’s drill music scene” – Billboard
The Song:
Chicago rapper Lil Durk plans to turn himself into the authorities today, in connection with charges springing from a recent incident in Atlanta. As a message to his fans and loved ones before surrendering, Durk shares “Turn Myself In,” a vital new single. In the single, the rapper laments his circumstance, apologizing to his loved ones and maintaining his innocence. The song is a fitting and heart-wrenching confessional, released as the rapper enters the justice system on his own terms. The 26-year-old rapper born Durk Banks is fully cooperating with the authorities on this matter.
