Video: Lil Durk ft. Future & Jeezy – “Goofy” (Prod. by Southside of 808 Mafia)
Billboard Premieres the Luxurious New Clip From the South Side Street Hero and Atlanta Mainstays
9.8.2017
Critical Praise
“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” – Pitchfork
The Video:
A blunt lyricist and master melodist beloved on the streets of Chicago, Lil Durk commands respect from all corners of the Hip-Hop universe. In his new video for “Goofy,” directed by Nasser Boulaich, the young artist recruits Future and Jeezy, two of the brightest stars from Atlanta, Durk’s city of residence. Produced by Southside, “Goofy” is a titanic and menacing trap banger, with an infectiously rhythmic chorus from Future and ultra-confident verses from Jeezy and Durk. In the video, the three rappers gather in a dimly-lit old-fashioned mansion, with antique furniture and chandeliers, dressed to the nines in street formal attire, spitting fire towards snitches and lames. Premiered by Billboard, “Goofy” is Durk’s second video since the release Supa Vultures EP, his collaborative project with fellow drill rap pioneer Lil Reese.
“Future and Jeezy both said this record was a movie,” Lil Durk explained to Billboard. “Future told me, ‘when you drop this record, put the video out two days after and the fans are gonna go crazy’ – so we linked up in Atlanta and shot the video to make it happen.”
Distributed by EMPIRE, Supa Vultures EP features the hit single “Distance,” recently featured in Complex’s Bout To Blow column, which has earned over 1.4 million views in its first month of release on YouTube, as well as the Durk solo track “Nobody Knows,” with a video premiered by Karen Civil. Since moving to Atlanta from Chicago, Lil Durk has been quietly dominating the Hip-Hop landscape, collaborating with countless artists both established and on the come-up. Lil Durk most recently linked with Quavo & Lil Yachty for “Homie Bitch.” The OTF (Only The Family) spitter also made appearances on Young Thug’s EBBTG, Trae Tha Truth‘s Tha Truth 3, and Ralo x Gucci Mane‘s Ralo LaFlare. Durk’s February project Love Songs For the Streets featured YFN Lucci and Young Thug, as the 24-year-old honed a matured sound. Most recently, Durk returned to his roots with Lil Reese on Supa Vultures EP, making a compelling demonstration of the two rappers’ towering stature in the Chicago rap scene. “We [Vultures] don’t eat each other,” explains Lil Durk. “We eat other people and keep everything in the family. If you’re with us we call you a vulture and you’re our brother.” Supa Vultures EP is currently available to stream and purchase.

EMPIRE Background
EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Sage The Gemini, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels.
