EP: HoodRich Pablo Juan & Brodinski – The Matrix
The ATL Trapstar and the Renowned French DJ Fuse Their Sensibilities Into an Aggressive New Collaboration
2.23.2018
Critical Praise:
“Nine out of ten rap fans seem to agree: Hoodrich Pablo Juan is up next.” – Complex
“HoodRich Pablo Juan should be Atlanta’s next up.” – Stereogum
“A smooth-talking rapper with a nonchalant charm.” – Pitchfork
The Project:
Ready to conquer the trap game with his soft-spoken charisma, Hoodrich Pablo Juan is a master of artful flexing. Teaming up with popular French electronic DJ Brodinski, Hoodrich Pablo Juan shares The Matrix, a quick dose of aggro-trap brilliance. Combining Brodinski’s maximalist sonics and Hoodrich Pablo Juan’s restrained delivery, The Matrix is a high-octane project, anchored by souped-up electronic instrumentals and HPJ’s force of personality. Entirely produced by Brodinski, The Matrix demonstrates a club-ready chemistry between producer and rapper, creating abrasively appealing bangers with subsonic bass and speaker-knocking drums. The Matrix is Pablo Juan’s second project of 2018, following January’s Rich Hood. Hosted by DJ Scream and DJ Champ and featuring appearances from Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, Gunna, Key Glock, among others, Rich Hood is a cohesive statement from the Hoodrich rapper, cementing his status as one of ATL’s most promising stars.
Praised by Stereogum as “Atlanta’s Next Up,” Hoodrich Pablo Juan spent 2017 building buzz and releasing some of his most popular and critically acclaimed music yet. In October, HPJ released Designer Drugz 3, which had the emcee holding his own with some of the most accomplished members of ATL’s A-List. Featuring Gucci Mane, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, Migos, MadeinTYO, Playboi Carti, Chief Keef, TK Kravitz, and others, along with production from Metro Boomin, Zaytoven, Nard & B, Cassius Jay, DJ Spinz, Honorable C-Note and more, Designer Drugz 3 is a non-stop collection of trap bangers, with Pablo Juan anchoring the album with his understated charisma and creative flows. Starting with Rich Hood and continuing with The Matrix, 2018 will be a big year for Hoodrich Pablo Juan.
Starting his career as a buzzing DJ in Paris’ famed Social Club, Louis Brodinski developed a reputation for his maximalist and aggressive dance music. In 2012, Brodinski co-founded Bromance Records, which boasts an international roster of impressive artists, including Gesaffelstein, Louisahhhh, and others. In 2015, Brodinski released Brava, his debut album, which mixed techno productions with Southern rap. After ending Bromance in 2017, Brodinski has settled in Atlanta, working with different rappers of the region, including ILoveMakonnen, Peewee Longway, Young Nudy and Johnny Cinco. The Matrix is the first in a series of collaborative products between Brodinski and a rapper, setting the tone with strong bars complementing his aggressive sonics.

The Background:
Straight out of east Atlanta, Pablo Juan has come a long way from his humble beginnings. While his family instilled in him a strong moral code, it was his impoverished environment and the neighborhood OG’s that gave him the G code. Rapping wasn’t a part of his original life plan, but he did have a way with words and he also had a way with hustling. Combining his talents, the dapper MC churned out a string of underground anthems that caused the streets to talk and as fate would have it, Gucci Mane was one of the listeners. Now co-signed by La Flare himself on 1017 Records, the lyrical rock star is steadily building a career off of being an artist from which you never know what to expect.
