Video: Eric Biddines – “Coffee Love”
The Palm Beach, FL Emcee Meets with Some Fine Ladies For Some Coffee Talk in This XXL-Premiered Video Off The Local Cafe
3.8.2017
Critical Praise for Eric Biddines:
“His delivery is unique, featuring high-pitched vocals and a Southern twang that is unmistakable.” – Complex
“[Eric Biddines] sounds like a cross-breed of Andre 3000 and Devin the Dude.” – 2Dopeboyz
“His music demonstrates a Dungeon Family-like propensity for interweaving harmonious refrains into complex flows to create a sound that sandwiches pure hip hop with layerings of funk and R&B. It’s a sound that doesn’t come by accident.” – BET
“An introspective Southern griot in the tradition of OutKast and Goodie Mob” – NPR
The Video:
A Florida rapper with a unique point-of-view, Eric Biddines‘ southern drawl sounds just as good gracing a smooth and organic R&B track as a it does over a dirty south trunk rattler. Sober since he was a teenager, coffee plays an outsized role in Eric Biddines’ life and world view. Quick to extol the healing powers of the magic bean, Eric takes some female friends out to his local cafe on “Coffee Love,” his latest video. Rhyming over a lush, horn-laden instrumental, “Coffee Love” finds Eric spitting sweet, off-beat come-ons (“I know you dig me like a booger”) to a litany of beautiful women, sharing intimate moments over a cup of joe. Premiered today by XXL, “Coffee Love” is the latest video from Eric’s recent album The Local Cafe.
Praised by NPR, XXL, The FADER and others, Eric Biddines makes deep-thinking, eclectic rap music, steeped in Southern traditionalism and utopian futurism. Last month, Eric dropped the Mass Appeal-premiered video for “Rushing Forever,” a Local Cafe standout described by Earmilk as a “panko-fried Southern jam.” In November, The FADER premiered “Whole Trunk,” a bass-heavy knocker about the great Dirty South tradition of blasting music out your car. Filmed in the wilds of Utah during a blizzard, Eric Biddines secured a feature in NPR First Watch with “Peeuurrnn,” a Looney Tunes inspired banger about, as Eric puts it, “the teleportation and transference from one negative space to a positive space, faster than the speed of light.” An in-depth exploration of life for an African-American in Palm Beach County, rich with minute details and lived-in experiences illustrated by Eric’s precise wordplay and intricate songwriting, The Local Cafe is currently available to purchase on iTunes and stream on Spotify. Catch Eric Biddines at the SXSW Monster Energy Outbreak House on March 15th, performing alongside Young M.A, Ugly God, and more.
