Sacramento-Born Brothers Blaq Tuxedo Announce the Electro Rap-n-B Opus ABA (Art By Accident), Arriving May 26th
The Grammy-Nominated Duo Shares “Steeler,” a Marimba-Tinged Club Banger, Premiered by Pigeons & Planes
4.21.2017
Seamlessly blending ’80s-style electro R&B with modern sounds in Hip-Hop and Pop, sibling duo Darius and Dom Logan (Blaq Tuxedo) specializes in bass-heavy, dancefloor-filling jams. Capitalizing on the momentum from their recent mixtape Tap In, Blaq Tuxedo announces ABA (Art By Accident), their upcoming album, their first under their current moniker. Packed with a diverse array of rich and textured Rap-N-B cuts, from club bangers to slow jams, ABA is the culmination of the Logan brothers’ years of songwriting and production experience into a singular artistic vision. Boasting the E-40-featuring single “Lit,” which has over 229,000 plays on SoundCloud, ABA, releasing May 26th, is a worthy debut and an excellent showcase of the brothers’ songwriting chops.
Born in Sacramento, Darius and Dom Logan started singing and writing together as young children, honing their skills until moving to L.A. in 2009 to become professional songwriters. After impressing the likes of Usher and Chris Brown with their abilities, the duo became one of the industry’s songwriting go-to’s, writing hits for Brown, Meek Mill, Ciara, August Alsina, Omarion, among others, and earning a Grammy nomination in 2014. In 2012, performing under the name D&D, the duo released Unforgettable, their first vocal project. Soon afterward, they changed their name to Blaq Tuxedo, which they felt better encapsulated their sound. As Blaq Tuxedo, they have released two EPs, including the recent Red Flowerz, which featured appearances from Bibi Bourelly, IAMSU! and Ty Dolla $ign, and the self-sufficient Limousine EP. The brothers’ musical journey reaches a logical destination with ABA, out May 29th.
Today, the duo drops “Steeler,” the follow-up single to “Lit” and the latest release from Art By Accident. A skeletal track with booming bass and plunking marimbas, “Steeler” is an unconventional and infectious club banger. Premiered by Pigeons & Planes, the song’s title refers to the duo’s outfit and the signature colors of the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers: “I don’t do no gossip all I do is skrilla/I might hit the town with my gorillas/Then invite you back to the villa/Black and yellow on I’m a Steeler.” A characteristically well-crafted single, “Steeler” is an ideal appetizer for Art By Accident, which is currently available for pre-order.
