Venturing off on his own after five years in the major label system, Action Bronson sounds refreshed and hungry, ready to embrace the hustle of independent stardom. Enjoying life, but always looking over his shoulder, Bronson inhabits a gentle soul-sampled production on “Prince Charming,” his latest single. Produced by Knxwledge, who layers vocal samples into an angelic choir atop twinkling keys and crackling drums, “Prince Charming” is a lyrical showcase for Bronson, flashing boasts with twisty internal rhymes, all imbued with a subtle paranoia: “A strong sense lingers/Something’s going wrong, I can feel it in my fingers/Like arthritis/When it’s raining.” “Prince Charming” is the latest single from White Bronco, Bronson’s upcoming album, following the jazz-influenced title track, which recently received a psychedelic music video.

On White Bronco, Bronson reckons with success, throwing himself into his art and fine-tuning his sharp lyrics. His first project as an independent artist in five years, White Bronco finds Bronson returning to the free-wheeling style that made Dr. Lecter and Blue Chips cult favorites, injecting live instrumentation and rapping with renewed focus. The follow-up to 2017’s Blue Chips 7000, White Bronco features production from Bronson’s longtime collaborator Party Supplies, as well as contributions from Knxwledge, Harry Fraud, and Daringer.
