Another week, another dope Mikey Dollaz video. This week, The FADER brings us the latest visual from the Chicago Drill emcee for the Obey City-produced “Hot Boy,” a highlight from Mikey’s new mixtape Picture Me Rollin’. In their premiere of the original single release, Pigeons and Planes praised the track, saying, “The beat is wild, but Mikey’s voice remains front and center as the commanding force, even through that crazy change-up halfway through.” “Hot Boy” follows the releases of videos for the Sonny Digital-produced “Good As It Gets,” premiered by HipHopDX, and “Flat Or Molly,” premiered byACCLAIM Mag. “Hot Boy” also follows the recent video for the Strict Face-produced “Fuck Me Right,” which Dummy Mag called a “visual concoction that entwines itself to the aquatic and crystalline sounds of Strict Face’s production.” “Hot Boy” depicts a debaucherous, drug-filled gathering in Mikey Dollaz’ RV. As the beat slows down, from pinging party music to a deeper bass-heavy sound, Mikey Dollaz and his crew move in slow motion through a field and through the streets of Chicago, the beat expertly mimicking the party’s comedown phase.

“Me and my manager had been talking about doing a two-part song and when Obey sent that first beat we thought we could throw another Obey beat on the back of it cuz it was so short,” Mikey explains to The FADER. “We rented an RV for the video and smoked dat bitch out wit the guys and then picked up some girls and took ’em to this abandoned farm house to try to get some dope outdoor shots.”

Mikey Dollaz’s Picture Me Rollin’ mixtape, which debuted last month via FACT Mag, finds Mikey Dollaz teaming up with Planet Mu’s Silk Road Assassins, Dun Deal, and Honorable C.N.O.T.E., in addition to the aforementioned contributions from Sonny Digital, Obey City, and Strict Face, to create a fusion of Electronic and Drill. Prior to Picture Me Rollin’, Mikey Dollaz appeared alongside frequent collaborator and drill rap architect King Louie on a loose single from producer SALVA, “Forever Be Dat Guy,” as gunshots punctuated what seemed to be a tranquil love tune flipping it into a boastful drill anthem. Born and raised on the West Side of Chicago, street drama derailed a promising basketball career for Mikey Dollaz. After a prison stint, he invested himself in the city’s burgeoning hip-hop scene, linking with Tinkand Dreezy. Mikey Dollaz’s Picture Me Rollin’ is available now.
