The Song:
A musical omnivore with the vocal talent to match his ambitions, wolfacejoeyy has his sights on conquering hearts and climbing charts. Reuniting with his close friend and producer WhereIs22, the 21-year-old Staten Island native shares “I Know,” a glistening new anthem. Powered by skittering hi-hats, speaker-knocking kicks, and timely triangle dings, “I Know” is a gently-propulsive serenade, as joeyy works the upper edges of his register in a successful attempt to woo the object of his intentions: “She said, ‘ but baby, you not 21/how the f*ck you gettin’ in the club’/Baby they play my sh*t when I’m in the club,” he spits.
“I Know” is the latest entry into joeyy’s growing catalog of “cutie patootie” anthems, following his recent release of the “cake” / “don’t be dishonest” double single. “cake” has quickly become a fan-favorite, generating over 160K combined views across social platforms before its official release, earning co-signs from stars like Sexyy Red, Rubi Rose, Veeze, and Kaliii on social media. The song, and it’s line “Ok, for sure/I tell her she’s sexy, she said ‘period, purr’,” has inspired more than 38.9k video creations on TikTok. The rlirty music video for “cake” recently surpassed 1.2 million views on YouTube, becoming joeyy’s most-viewed video to date. wolfacejoeyy currently averages more than 1 million on-demand streams per week across platforms.
“I Know,” “cake,” “don’t be dishonest,” and “wya” will appear on joeyy’s next project, Valentino, which will take joeyy’s hybrid sound to a new level. The upcoming project is an exploration of joeyy’s loverboy persona, packed with romantic anthems that relay flirtatious conversations and late-night adventures in joeyy’s melodious croon. Refining the euphoric club-meets-drill hybrid sound on which joeyy has made his name, look for Valentino to drop in the coming weeks.
With his new music, joeyy is aiming to improve upon his breakout 2023, in which he partnered with producer Whereis22 (aka the actor Michael Rainey Jr., from POWER on Starz), on the acclaimed EP 22Joeyy. The album featured the single “weekend” ft. Cash Cobain & Chow Lee, acclaimed by Pitchfork, and additional guest spots from SoFaygo and B-Lovee. Joeyy discussed the project in an interview with BET, and a profile in HYPEBEAST that came out earlier this year, and his fiery 2023 inspired Complex to place him on their list of Rappers to Watch in 2024.
After the success of 22Joeyy and a tour slot opening for Eem Triplin, a headlining show earlier this year at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, and a standout performance at Rolling Loud California 2024, Joeyy rolls into Spring 2024 with a head of steam.
