The Video:
Smokey Robotic is a group like no other. Comprised of Seer, Father Dude, !llmind, and Konrad OldMoney, the four-person unit brings together and blends hip-hop, soul, and electronic influences, delivering a collection of music in their recent album MUSIUM that ranges from the thumping electro-sex of recent single "Gandhi" to the more contemplative, soulful sounds of the group's latest single, for which they're releasing a video today, "Unlike Anyone." The video features True Blood's Jamie Gray Hyder, whose character Danielle makes a big impact on the soon to be aired sixth season.
The video for "Unlike Anyone," premiered today by Complex, and was directed by Clara Aranovich, who has written, directed, and produced independent features as well as dramatic shorts in the past. This explains its treatment, which is perceptibly cinematic, with muted colors, purposeful shots, and visual metaphors. "It's open to interpretation," says Father Dude, "but for me it's about being lost and clouded in your own world." It's a moving song with themes of true friendship standing the test of time. "When you walk through extreme darkness with a friend and emerge into the light, the bond becomes much stronger and more profound," explains Seer, "and so forgiveness and empathy are also prominent themes in this story."
