LA rap trifecta Pac Div have recently released their anticipated sophomore album, GMB, and are tenaciously leading the charge in the city's rap renaissance. Their latest single, "Sneakerboxes," which Billboard premiered today, continues to keep it in the California family with features from 17-year-old Chip Gnarly reppin' Inglewood, and long-time collaborator Big Sik.
With a big bass, sound-effect-laden production by the group's own, Like, the track is one of Pac Div's personal favorites off GMB. "It's my favorite track because it has so much attitude and swagger," says Mibbs. "It definitely feels like a throwback West Coast banger, something similar to NWA with that Ice Cube/Eazy-E flow." Each verse picks up seamlessly where the previous left off, creating a flowing, lyrical conversation between emcees about how money isn't an issue for the trio, despite being independent. "The inspiration behind sneakerboxes is really to send a message to the nosy people or fans who wonder how much money we make," explains Mibbs. "We've always been heavy on our sneaker game, whether we're trying or not, so by us having all those sneaker boxes handy, might as well use those for cash storage!"

Background:
Based in Southern California, Pac Div started rapping together in high school as an eleven-member crew. Realizing a group of that size was not realistic, they shrank to three members in 2005. Soon after the release of their first mixtape, Sealed For Freshness: The Blend Tape, the group received national attention from Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Source, VIBE, XXL and gained the approval of hip-hop legends Pharrell Williams, Ludacris, ?uestlove, Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder and more. They continued climbing the ladder, opening up for big names like Nas, Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes, Ice-T, Ludacris and N.E.R.D. After releasing two more mixtapes through Motown Universal, the group left the label and released their first full-length album, The Div, through their own label, The Div Co. and RBC Records. After receiving much praise from the hip hop world with their first release, Pac Div turned up the heat with GMB, which was released on November 27 and featured guest artists Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Ty$ and many more.
