Seattle's Hip Hop Love Child Returns To Inspire And Uplift With New Track Off His 2013 Mixtape
The Song:
While many of today's hip hop artists engage topics like sex, violence and wealth, Nissim (formerly D.Black) has let his faith guide his music down a different path. First introduced to the world in 2008 with his song "God Like", he made waves in the industry with his 2009 album "All 'Yah", found himself with a video in MTV rotation, and shared the stage with some of hip hop's biggest names at festivals like CMJ, SXSW and Capitol Hill Block Party. But even amidst his burgeoning commercial success, a feeling of emptiness compelled him to walk away from music, convert to Orthodox Judaism and delve deeply into the religious teachings of the Torah. Now, hes back, as Nissim and today, he has released the first single, "Unbelievable," from his forthcoming mixtape, "Miracle Music," which will drop May 15th for free and will be followed by the release of his new self titled album on July 16th.
With his up-tempo and jubilant song "Unbelievable," which was produced by Nissim's business partner, longtime friend, and brother-in-law, Yosef Brown, Nissim expresses themes of overcoming adversity, self-acceptance and celebration that represent the core of his new musical mission. "I wanted to push a very urgent fact, which is; although at times we all become overwhelmed or we may sometimes allow ourselves to fall into a time of self-loathing, or depression, G-d forbid!" Nissim remarks, "We still have to take time and see how far we've already come and learn to be happy with that which we've already accomplished." As the first glimpse of material from his upcoming mixtape, "Unbelievable," sets the stage for a triumphant return of an artist who has truly found his calling.

The Background:
Nissim is a Seattle based recording artist/producer, who made his first impression nationally in 2008 as D.Black, on producer Jake One's label, White Van Music, with the song "God Like". While his earlier recordings were filled with tales of guns, drugs and violence, it was in 2009, with the release of "Ali' Yah" that he quickly grabbed eardrums. The album was showered with accolades, such as landing the #12 spot on Amazon's "Outstanding Album's You Might Have Missed" list, it entered the CMJ Hip Hop Charts at #16, peaked at #4 for five weeks, and remained in the top 20 for nine weeks. The album's first music video "Yesterday" made its debut on XXL.com and shortly after entered rotation on multiple MTV networks. He performed at some of the countries most esteemed music festivals including; CMJ, SXSW, Capitol Hill Block Party, and Bumbershoot as well as sharing the stage with NaS, Mos Def, Macklemore, Freeway, Rhymefest, Boot Camp Click and Bun B to name a few. As D.Black he teetered on the verge of becoming a household name in the underground, but something was missing, and the man who would become Nissim, found himself in the midst of a spiritual crisis. After a two year hiatus and converting to Orthodox Judaism, Nissim dropped his former moniker, and adopted a new name, he began a new journey, and in his own words "…to make music that inspires and elevates this world, to the world of spirituality and divine purpose." Not your average MC, Nissim's work is multidimensional, combining energy and passion, with a deep focus on personal growth through times of struggle. His self-titled album is set for release in July 2013.
