The Video:
Today, A-Wax is excited to release his new album, Everybody Loves Me: Chapter 1. The album, which is out today via Illburn Records, has been a long-time coming for the Pittsburg, California, rapper, who's spent time signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik, and working in studios with the likes of Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame, and more over the past few years. Everybody Loves Me: Chapter 1French Montana, Styles P., Mistah FAB, and more, and to celebrate today's album release, A-Wax is excited to release a video for the album's latest single, "I Miss You."
A-Wax, was inspired to write "I Miss You," he says, when he started to reminisce about having lost friends young, and the influence he's had on other people's lives due to his history of gang banging. And from the song's opening bars, A-Wax sets a dark tone, as he offers the listener striking visuals. "Think about it drunk; think about it high," raps A-Wax, opening the song. "If I think about it too much, I'mma cry…All this shit just keep playing with my head/ Playing with my chopper, laying in my bed."
For the video, directed by Sigmond IV, A-Wax wanted to match the tone of the song, that of looking back to the past, and in doing so, it was important to make sure the visual's scenery and props felt appropriate. "I have an old .38 in the video," he explains, " and we shot it at an old house in Richmond, California. The vibe was perfect; it really set the tone."

The
Background:
A lot of rappers make music about the penitentiary. Few can say that they learned their craft while incarcerated. Having emerged after a lengthy stretch in the prison system during his teenage years, A-Wax turned to rap and came up in the game old-fashioned way, selling CDs hand-to-hand and through Mom & Pop stores across the region. The hard work has paid off -- A-Wax has moved over 200,000 units, independently, no small feat, and the accomplishment eventually led to a deal with Akon's Konvict Muzik label. A-Wax and Akon ultimately went their seperate ways, due to creative differences, and now A-Wax is back on the independent grind, with a new album, Everybody Loves Me: Chapter 1. The album, which includes features from French Montana, Styles P., Mistah FAB, and more, is out today, July 17th, via Illburn Records.
