The Video:
On February 26th, A-Wax will release his new album, Jesus Malverde, via a collaboration between Illburn Records and Wax's own Pie-Rx Recordz, and, following behind the recently released "Work" single, which featured Waka Flocka Flame and Ca$his and was produced by Southside, A-Wax is today releasing the video for "Gun Range," which features Black Wall Street rapper Compton Menace.
A-Wax, in collaboration with director Brian Reyes (of Sigmond IV Multimedia), consistently delivers high quality visuals, and "Gun Range" follows in the long line of top-notch productions, joining other recent Jesus Malverde video "The Shooter." The track, produced by Nonstop Da Hitman (Juelz Santana, Tech N9ne, E-40), is darkly melodic, driven by a creeping, staccato synth plucks and brooding horns, and A-Wax opens the track with the type of direct, hardened honesty that's become his specialty. "I just came home from prison, what kinda welcome is this," he raps. "Seven years in the system, I went through hell in that bitch/ Right back out in the mix again, what compels me to this?"

The
Background:
A lot of rappers make music about the penitentiary. Few can say that they learned their craft while incarcerated. Having emerged after a lengthy stretch in the prison system during his teenage years, A-Wax turned to rap and came up in the game old-fashioned way, selling CDs hand-to-hand and through Mom & Pop stores across the region. The hard work has paid off -- A-Wax has moved over 200,000 units, independently, no small feat, and the accomplishment eventually led to a deal with Akon's Konvict Muzik label. A-Wax and Akon ultimately went their seperate ways, due to creative differences, and now A-Wax is back on the independent grind. In 2012, A-Wax released Everybody Loves Me: Chapter 1., with features from French Montana, Styles P., Mistah FAB, and more. He followed that with the announcement of his new label, Pie-Rx Recordz. and the release of his Pie-Rx Muzik mixtape. Now, A-Wax is prepping the release of his latest album, Jesus Malverde, which includes features from Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame, Cashis, and YG Hootie, and will be released Feburary 26, 2013.
